COMMON QUESTIONS
Answers, before you ask.
The questions people usually call us about — the home itself, who it is for, how a referral works, and what happens to the information you send. If yours is not here, call or email and we will help.
THE HOME
About the residence itself.
What Cornerstone is, what a room includes, and what the residence is not.
What kind of housing is Cornerstone?
Cornerstone is a room-and-board residence for adults who need a stable place to live during a period of transition. It is a shared home with clear house expectations — not a hospital, treatment program, or assisted-living facility.
Are the rooms furnished?
Yes. Both shared and private bedrooms are fully furnished. When we are discussing a placement, we will go over what to bring.
Do you offer private bedrooms as well as shared bedrooms?
Both. Shared bedrooms are fully furnished and suit people who want community; private bedrooms are fully furnished and suit people who prefer more privacy and personal space. Contact us to discuss what currently fits.
Is it a men’s or women’s residence?
We have a men’s residence and a women’s residence, and we ask about comfort with shared, dual-gender living as part of the referral so the match is right for everyone in the home.
Do you provide medical, personal-care, or assisted-living services?
No. Cornerstone provides room-and-board housing only. We do not provide medical, personal-care, assisted-living, or behavioral-health services.
What are the house expectations?
The home is built on a stable residential setting, a respectful shared community, clear house expectations, and a focus on independent living. We walk through them with you before move-in.
WHO WE SERVE
Who Cornerstone is for.
Eligibility and whether the setting is the right fit.
Who can live at Cornerstone?
Cornerstone is intended for adults 18 and older who need stable housing while working toward greater independence. Final eligibility is discussed during the inquiry process.
Do I need a case manager or an agency to refer me?
No. The admissions process accommodates inquiries from individuals, families, case managers, and community referral partners — you can reach out directly.
Do you accept referrals from agencies?
Yes. We welcome referrals from social workers, case managers, hospitals, shelters, veterans services, and community partners.
What if the person is working with a housing program or voucher?
Tell us the income source and housing program in the referral, and we will confirm during the conversation whether it fits the residence.
What if someone needs more support than housing?
Cornerstone provides housing rather than clinical care. During the conversation we talk through the person’s housing needs and expectations and whether this setting is appropriate — if it is not, we will say so.
REFERRALS
How a referral works.
How to reach us, what we need, and what happens next.
How do I submit a referral?
Use the referral form on this page — it goes straight to our housing team. You can also call or email us using the details in the contact section below.
What information do you need to start?
The basics: the client’s name, date of birth and age, contact details, income source and housing program, the housing need (shared or private bedroom, and which residence), a requested move-in date and urgency, your agency and case-manager contact if you have one, and any notes we should know.
Does submitting a referral guarantee a room?
No. A referral does not guarantee placement — it starts the conversation, and we work from there.
What are the steps from inquiry to move-in?
Four: Inquiry (learn about the residence and current eligibility requirements), Conversation (housing needs, expectations, and fit), Application (required resident and referral information), and Move-In (we coordinate next steps once the person is accepted and space is available).
Can I check current availability online?
We do not post availability online. Contact us directly and we will talk through what is currently open.
How much does it cost?
Pricing, eligibility requirements, and move-in details are provided during the inquiry process — call or email and we will walk you through them.
How quickly will I hear back?
We review inquiries as they come in. If a placement is time-sensitive, mark the urgency in the form or call us directly.
PRIVACY
What happens to your information.
What we do with what you send us, and what you do not need to send.
What do you do with the information I submit?
Referral details are used to coordinate housing placement — to understand the request, check fit, and stay in touch about next steps. We keep what you share to that purpose.
Should I include medical records or a Social Security number?
Please don’t. Send only the information needed to understand the housing request. Medical records, diagnoses, and Social Security numbers are not needed to start an inquiry.
Can I start a referral without the client’s paperwork?
Yes. An inquiry can begin without documents — the application step is where the required resident and referral information is completed.
Will you share my referral with others?
We use the information to work the placement with you. If we reach out to a case manager or program you listed, it is to move the housing request forward.
FOR PARTNERS
For case managers & agencies.
Support for people making referrals as part of their work.
Is there help writing the referral notes?
Yes. The “Draft a placement summary” helper on this page turns your housing-need selections and referral notes into a concise summary for our housing team.
Can my organization refer on an ongoing basis?
Yes. We work with social workers, case managers, hospitals, shelters, veterans services, and community partners on a standing basis — contact us and we will agree how referrals reach us.
How do I know a referral was received?
Include your email in the referral form and we will reply there. If you have not heard from us, call or email and we will confirm we have it.
STILL UNSURE?
Can’t find your answer?
Call, email, or send a referral — every one is read by a person, not a system.
